Michael Huttner

Michael Huttner is the President of the Huttner Group, Inc. a political consulting firm that specializes in crisis and multi-state communications.  Huttner is also the Founder of ProgressNow a network of state-based organizations that informs and moves people to action for progressive solutions through communications and new media with partner states in California, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin.

Huttner started ProgressNow in the back of his law firm with his personal list of 700 email addresses in 2003 and now the ProgressNow partner states combined membership exceeds 2.4 million individuals.

He is the author of the recently published book 50 Ways You Can Help Obama Change America. which the late Senator Edward M. Kennedy described as “A practical handbook on how every American can do something for our country.”

As a private political consultant Huttner helped spearhead Colorado’s legislative efforts in 2004. He has taught Legislation and Lobbying as an adjunct professor at the University of Denver College of Law.

Before going into private practice, Huttner worked as Policy Advisor to Governor Roy Romer and before returning to Denver he clerked at the White House for the Office of the Counsel to the President.

Huttner earned his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from Brown University.  Huttner lives in Boulder, Colorado with his wife Debbie, who founded the Wellness Initiative to teach yoga and mediation to low-income elementary school students.

Carrie Steele

Carrie Steele manages the schedule and much of the day-to-day operations at the Huttner Group. 

Carrie has a comprehensive background in local politics.  Prior to joining the Huttner Group, she helped found Compass Strategy Group, a full service political consulting firm located in Denver, Colorado.  She has served numerous roles as senior staff on local school board, mayoral, and United States Senate campaigns.  She was a member of the 2008 Host Committee for the Democratic National Convention and is a graduate of Leadership Douglas County.  Carrie is dedicated to progressive values and building a Democratic base in her own community and beyond.

Carrie earned her BA in Political History from the Metropolitan State College of Denver, with an emphasis on American and International Politics.  She enjoys spending time with her two children, camping, traveling, and hiking our beautiful backcountry with her beloved Saint Bernese, Rocky.
